The current Management plan for Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary (FOURTH PLAN) has been prepared with the goal of ensuring sustained ecological security of the area and it will be implemented for a five-year period i.e from 2017-18 to 2021-22. It has been approved by APCCF (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden.
Management plan of Narpuh Wildlife Sanctuary for period 2017-18 to 2021-22 has also been approved.
Following management objectives have been established within this Plan period:
- To protect and conserve the rich flora and fauna
- To maintain and wherever necessary , to restore and improve the demography of the endangered, endemic, vulnerable, rare and threatened species with special focus on Hoolock gibbon, Great Indian Hornbill and Clouded Leopard
- To provide quality educational, recreational and wilderness experience through regulated eco-tourism.
- To reduce people’s dependency on the forest-based resources by uplifting their socio-economic conditions through eco-development activities.
