Management Plans
Management Plans for the Protected Areas of the State has been prepared with the following management objectives:
- To protect and conserve the rich flora and fauna
- To maintain and wherever necessary, to restore and improve the demography of the endangered, endemic, vulnerable, rare and threatened species with special focus on Hoolock gibbon, Great Indian Hornbill and Clouded Leopard
- To provide quality educational, recreational and wilderness experience through regulated eco-tourism.
- To reduce people’s dependency on the forest-based resources by uplifting their socio-economic conditions through eco-development activities.
The current Management plan for Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary (FOURTH PLAN) has been prepared with the goal of ensuring sustained ecological security of the area and it will be implemented for a five-year period i.e from 2017-18 to 2021-22. It has been approved by APCCF (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden.
Management plan of Narpuh Wildlife Sanctuary for period 2017-18 to 2021-22 has also been approved.
